The conference spans four days, each with specific scientific objectives:
15–16 September 2026
The first two days are devoted to specialised workshops and seminars organised by the Nomisma.org Scientific Committee. These open sessions focus on technical and methodological issues, including descriptive ontologies, Linked Open Data, interoperability of numismatic data, and the development of shared digital infrastructures.
17–18 September 2026
The final two days host the annual conference of the European Coin Find Network (ECFN). Participation is based on a call for papers and posters, with selection by the Scientific Committee. Main thematic areas include:
- coin finds with a digital aspect;
- applications of AI in numismatics;
- digital applications for research, data management and analysis;
- public outreach and communication of coin finds and collections.
Participants and networks
The event brings together a wide range of expertise, including numismatists, archaeologists, digital humanists, data scientists, museum professionals and coordinators of major digital projects. Participants come from many European countries and the United States, ensuring a broad and multidisciplinary scholarly exchange.
The European Coin Find Network (ECFN) is a cooperative network of institutions involved in the study and documentation of coin finds across Europe, coordinated by the Römisch-Germanische Kommission (RGK) of the German Archaeological Institute (DAI).
Alongside ECFN, Nomisma.org represents an international collaborative initiative providing stable digital representations of numismatic concepts according to Linked Open Data (LOD) principles. Nomisma.org maintains a formalised RDF ontology and data model, making all concepts openly accessible through the contributions of a large international scholarly community.
